Cambridge, MASS.- Director of Athletics Stephanie Smyrl announced the hiring of Sarah Roger as the Head Athletic Trainer for the Lynx. Roger joined the Lesley Athletics Department in September of 2020 during the transition of getting the Lynx fall sport athletes on the field for practices through first semester.
"We are thrilled to have Sarah join the Lynx athletics staff and lead our Sports Medicine department," said Smyrl. "Her initiative and professional leadership in her field, along with a variety of experiences will immediately impact our student-athletes."
Roger came to the Lynx staff after completing her residency in Neurotrauma and Spine at Boston University where she worked primarily with the varsity field-hockey and softball teams, in addition to overseeing concussion and complex spine injury cases. Prior to arriving in Massachusetts, the Vermont native worked as an assistant athletic trainer for Women's Basketball at Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina following an internship with the Football team.
"I want to thank our Athletic Director Stephanie Smyrl and Dean of Students Nathaniel Mays for giving me this opportunity as the new Head Athletic Trainer during this unprecedented time in collegiate athletics," Roger stated. "I am excited to join the Lynx staff and share their passion and vision for the betterment of our student-athletes."
Roger graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2016 where she majored in Athletic Training before completing her Masters Degree in Exercise Science at the University of Delaware. While there the Vermont native simultaneously worked as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer overseeing 2017 conference champions Baseball team and Cross Country teams.
