Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support
The Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support helps students who represent the university in intercollegiate competition with transitions to the campus and balancing athletics with college academic life. Lesley University Athletics is committed to ensuring that student-athletes meeting university and NCAA standards while working on academic requirements for degree completion. Through the office of the Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support (located in the Undergraduate Academic Advising Center), and the collaborative assistance of faculty advisors and the Deans' offices of Lesley College and the Art Institute of Boston, staff monitor academic progress and encourage student-athletes to excel in the classroom. Student-athletes are encourage to utilize tutoring and academic support services provided by the Center for Academic Achievement (CAA). Select student-athletes are also required to regularly attend study hall/study table. Study hall/study table provides structured time and available assistance for organization and direction on assignments.
The Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support also monitors and tracks the academic progress of student-athletes and academic compliance in accordance with NCAA rules. Regular contract with instructors through progress reports, mid-semester evaluations and other communication throughout the semester allows Lesley University student-athletes to remain on track toward good eligibility standing. The Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support, not coaches, has the primary responsibility of providing academic support and evaluating the selection of courses and majors in collaboration with faculty advisors.
