ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After a week that saw the Lynx nab two New England Collegiate Conference victories over Daniel Webster College, junior Casey Blanchard (Bernardston, Mass.) and freshman Nick Iadevaio (Mineola, N.Y.) have been named NECC Player of the Week and NECC Rookie of the Week, respectively. NECC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Roger Crosley made the announcement today in the Conference Weekly Report.
The duo helped power the Lynx to a 2-1 week and a perfect 2-0 mark in NECC play as the Lynx swept a doubleheader from DWC on Friday Night. Lesley will continue NECC play on Tuesday when they square off with Elms College at the New England Collegiate Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass.
NECC BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Casey Blanchard, Lesley University
(Jr., INF - Bernardston, Mass.)
Blanchard powered the Lynx offense with some timely hitting in the doubleheader sweep of Daniel Webster on Friday night. The junior knocked in three runs, including a two-run double, in a 5-0 game one victory before adding two more RBI's in a 6-0 game two win for the Lynx. Blanchard added another RBI double in the nightcap and scored one run in each game.
NECC BASEBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nick Iadevaio, Lesley University
(Fr., OF/P - Mineola, N.Y.)
Iadevaio capped his week while making some Lesley program history. The rookie took the mound and hurled a complete game shutout over Daniel Webster College on Friday night, yielding just one hit while striking out two. The one-hitter sets a mark for fewest hits allowed in a start in program history. In game one of the doubleheader, Iadevaio finished 1-for-3 with a run scored in a 5-0 win while also collecting a double in a loss to Framingham State on Wednesday.
