Lynx Bested by Hornets

Northborough, MA - Lesley University baseball were on the wrong end of two close games against Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. Game 1 ended in a sliding play at the plate, as Lesley were beaten 1-0. Game 2 say the Lynx go long twice, but fall 5-2. Lesley drop to 2-11 on the year, while NVU-Lyndon improve to 5-13 on the season.


  • The Hornets got on the board first with a two out bases loaded single to take the lead 1-0.
  • Both teams were had a pitchers dual as Jonathan Truscott (Dudley, MA.) pitched a complete game. Truscott finished his afternoon with just one earned run on five hits while striking out six batters.
  • The game ended in drama as a play at the plate ruled out the game tying run in the bottom of the seventh.
  • The Lynx bats were held in check, only coming up with three hits, Nicholas Ferragine (Randolph, N.J.), Brendan Fairchild (Temecula, CA.), and Will Rhone (North Haven, CT.) all came up with singles.


  • Lesley got on the board first courtesy of a Javi Martinez (Chelsea, MA.) homerun, Martinez second long ball in the past three games. This gave Lynx early 1-0 lead.
  • Lyndon would jump on the Lynx in the second inning with three runs to take the lead, 3-1.
  • The Lynx fought back in the form of a Ryan Pumphret (Shrewsbury, MA.) solo homerun. Although, the Hornets held off the lead until the end to take sweep over Lesley.
  • Colin Reed (Bedford, N.Y.) pitched six innings allowing just five runs (two earned) on eight hits, while striking out one batter. Alex Burr (Oakville, CT.) came in for one relief inning forcing a ground out double play and a fly out.
  • Both Martinez and Pumphret finished the day with two hits, while Matt Bavaro (Sayville, N.Y.) and Leo DiGuilio (Bradley Beach, N.J.) each grabbed a hit of their own.


Lesley (2-11) open up New England Colligate Conference play against Eastern Nazarene College in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 30, with first pitch at 12:00PM for Game 1. Games to be played at Adams Field (Quincy, MA) with the Lynx as the host team.
