Donald Morris named head coach for Lynx basketball

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Lesley University has chosen Donald Morris to be the next head coach for the men's basketball team starting in upcoming 2008-2009 season.  Morris becomes the head coach after previous serving as a Lynx assistant coach for the past two seasons.

Morris, a former basketball player at Lesley University and Southern New Hampshire University, brings a firm grasp and knowledge of the Lesley community as well as the greater New England area recruiting scene.  He is a tireless recruiter and is well-known for his on-the-court skill development abilities with his players.

In his two seasons as a Lesley assistant coach, the Lynx went 26-29, including 17-11 against conference opponents.  In the 2006-2007 season, Morris helped lead the Lynx into the North Atlantic Conference Semifinals in just their second season of existence.  The following year, the Lynx would win six straight games to reach the NAC Championship, falling to Elms College 72-65.

Coach Morris has coached at several exclusive basketball camps such as Five Star, Red Auerbach School, Boston Celtics Camp, Dana Barros Camp, and many others across the country.  Morris has also coached teams at the Northeast Bay State Games and the AAU Bay State Jaguars team who earned a beth into the YBOA Nationals earlier in Morris' coaching career.

Coach Morris' education includes an associates degree in Sport Management from Dean College and a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Lesley University.
