Lesley loses to Endicott in season opener

BEVERLY, Mass. - In the men's basketball season opener against Endicott College at the DIME Magazine Tip-Off Invitational, the Lynx fell 70-41 as the team struggled to get their offense going. Lesley will next face off against Wentworth Institute of Technology who defeated the University of Southern Maine 72-59.
The Lynx were led in scoring by Jon Cruz (Haverhill, Mass.) who dropped a team-high 12 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the floor. Cruz also forced three steals in his 35 minutes on the court. Jesus Trejo (Methuen, Mass.) recorded a double-double in the game, tallying 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Lesley was able to hold Endicott in check for much of the first half, but an 8-2 run gave the Gulls a 30-19 advantage going into halftime.
Endicott maintained momentum scoring 10 of the first 12 points of the second half, capped off by a three-pointer from the corner by Gulls guard Bobby Montrand (Brockton, Mass.). Montrand gave a solid all-around effort with 11 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals in the triumph.
Graham Whitelaw (Kennebunk, Me.) finished the game scoring a game-high 13 points for Endicott.
Endicott forced 28 turnovers from the Lynx which were converted into 22 points. The Gulls held the advantage on second chance points at 16-2. The Gulls shot 47.4% compared to 32.0% by the Lynx.
