Doug Eng, EdD, PhD, joined the Lynx staff as head men's tennis coach in August 2012, bringing with him experience coaching college tennis for sixteen seasons, mostly at nearby Tufts University.

He has worked with many ranked players, including sectionally and nationally ranked juniors, ITF, WTA and Davis Cup players. He is one of 10 people worldwide designated a Master Professional by the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).

Eng was named "Best of Boston's" Best Tennis Coach in 2010 by Boston Magazine and has won four divisional Pro of the Year honors from the PTR and USPTA, including both in 2008. He is presently Regional Vice President of the USPTA New England and has been President of PTR New England. He is presently Co-Chair of the National Education Committee for the USPTA and is on the Unites States Tennis Association (USTA) National Sport Science Committee. He has spent many years volunteering for USTA and local grassroots community tennis.

Eng has completed the USTA High Performance Coaching Program and has written over 70 tennis articles, including those for tennisplayer.net and tennisone.com, mostly on analysis of techniques and tactics. He has expertise in technique, tennis training and sport psychology. Eng also has expertise in coaching theory having trained or certified over 1,000 coaches for PTR and USTA.

Eng is a popular speaker at various tennis conferences and is a member of the HEAD/Penn National Speaking Bureau. Additionally, he is certified Academia Sanchez-Casal, Etcheberry Experience and National Strength and Conditioning Association as a strength and conditioning specialist.

His doctorates were from Tufts University and Boston University with a dissertation on sport psychology in tennis.

During the summer, Eng is a director at a two tennis academies, including The Tennis Academy at Harvard. He has also coached squash for over twenty years and is a scuba divemaster.
