Johnson, who just finished up her first indoor and outdoor season’s, comes to Lesley after a three year stint at the University of Texas at El Paso where she served as an assistant coach working primarily with sprinters and hurdlers. Under her guidance, the Miners saw the women’s 4x100 relay team capture the Conference USA Championship while reaching the NCAA semifinals. Johnson led six individual student-athletes to C-USA Championships and guided one runner to the 400-meter finals at the NCAA Championships.
Prior to her time at UTEP, Johnson served as a sprints and hurdles coach at St. Mary’s Academy (Portland, Ore.) from three years. While at St. Mary’s, Johnson coached 17 All-State runners and 50 All-District selections while guiding the 2008 4x100m girls relay team to a state championship.
Johnson, who started her collegiate running career at McKendree College before transferring to Abilene Christian University, was a 12-time All-American, two-time National Champion (4x400m), and three-time National Runner-up (60m, 200m, 400m). She was also a member of the Jamaica Junior National 4x100m relay team, which won a gold medal at the CARIFTA Games and the CAC Junior Championships.
