Jonathan Alizio was named Head Coach of the Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track programs in July of 2014. A graduate of the University of New Hampshire and former runner for the Wildcats, Alizio has brought more than ten years of coaching experience to the men’s and women’s programs that have combined for 11 New England Collegiate Conference Championships.

Alizio comes to Cambridge after serving as an Assistant Coach at New England College where he helped lead the women’s team to their first conference title in 2013. In his role, he helped design and implement training programs for student-athletes, facilitate practices and meets, while also assisting in the recruiting of prospective student-athletes.

Prior to his time with the Pilgrims, Alizio served nine years as an Assistant Coach for the Boy’s Cross Country Team at Pinkerton Academy where he also teaches Spanish. During his tenure, the team qualified for the New England Championships in eight straight years and saw second and third place finishes in Division I. In 2008, Pinkerton became the first team in New Hampshire Cross Country history to have all seven runners finish in under 17:00 at Derryfield Park during the Division I Championship.

Also at Pinkerton, he encouraged students to be involved in community service, helped organize fundraisers, and continued to develop students both inside and outside of the classroom.

A USA Track and Field Certified Level 1 Coach, he has also served as a counselor at the Foss Running Camp in Strafford, N.H. since 2010.

Alizio has maintained a level of personal success in running as he has completed 15 marathons, including completing five Boston Marathons.
