Lesley ranked fifth in preseason poll

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The North Atlantic Conference released their preseason poll and the Lesley University softball earned a fifth place rank after finishing 17-13 (7-5 NAC) in 2007.

The Lynx have qualified for the NAC tournament the last two seasons and expect that this year the team is poised for a deep tournament run.  With a crop of several returning All-Conference players and immediate impact first-year players, Lesley will field a competitive team in 2008.

Atop the preseason poll was two-time defending NAC champion Elms College.  The Blazers, who swept through the tournament in 2008, return seven starters including First Team All-Conference pitcher/outfielder Tammie Tremblay.  Elms received nine first place votes for 115 total points.

Rounding out the rest of the poll was UMaine-Farmington (103), Husson College (93), Castleton State College (89), Lesley University (79), Thomas College (71), Bay Path College (50), Maine Maritime Academy (49), Becker College (31), Wheelock College (24), and Johnson State College (22).

Spring training for the Lynx is less than a month away.  The team will kick off their 2008 campaign in Fort Myers, Fla.  where the team will take on several non-conference opponents from March 9-13.
