Softball players earn NFCA academic honor

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Lesley University softball players Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.), Alicia Pari (No. Providence, R.I.), and Georgia Saltzman (Lynn, Mass.) were honored by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for their academic achievements during the 2007-2008 year with the girls got game/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete award.
Scholar-athletes must have acquired a 3.5 GPA for the year to qualify for the individual honor.
For Cabral-Pini, this was the third consecutive academic year in which she has earned the honor. Pari and Saltzman became first time recipients.
"I am so proud of Lani, Georgia and Alicia for their academic achievements," commented Head Coach Jen Benway. "From the minute these student-athletes arrive on campus, we stress to them the importance of their academics and Lani, Georgia and Alicia have proven to be a role model amongst their teammates and peers at the university. It is even more commendable knowing that two of these three students are multiple-sport athletes which speaks volumes on how well have learned to manage their time."
