CAMBRIDGE, Mass. The New England Intercollegiate Softball Coaches Association (NEISCA) honored Lesley junior Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) by naming her to their Honorable Mention squad for the 2009 Division III All-Star Teams.

In their first ever appearance in the Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Softball Championships, the Lesley University Lynx fought hard through seven innings against Western New England College but were defeated 2-0. Nearly a year ago, the Lesley University and Wellesley College softball teams met at the NCAA Regional Tournament down in Providence, Rhode Island with the Blue defeating the Lynx 3-2. These two teams met up again on Friday afternoon and split a double header with Lesley taking game one 3-2 and Wellesley winning game two 6-1.

The Lynx dropped to 9-8 (6-0 NECC) on the season and will be back in action this Tuesday against Wheelock College for their first home games of the season.
NASHUA, N.H. The Lesley University softball team played a double header against Daniel Webster College on Saturday and continued to play well against New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) opponents by sweeping the Eagles. The Lynx improved to 9-6 (6-0 NECC) on the season.
BROOKLINE, Mass. The Lesley University softball team took two games from New England Collegiate Conference opponent Newbury College to improve their record to 7-6 (4-0 NECC). The Lynx got two dominant pitching performances from Alicia Burnett (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and Cassandra Knox (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) who combined for 23 strikeouts in the double header.
NEWTON, Mass. The Lesley University softball team traveled to Newton, Massachusetts to face off against GNAC opponent Lasell College but lost 5-4 in the seventh inning on a walk-off solo home run by the Lasers. Lesley drops to 5-6 (2-0 NECC) while Lasell improved to 11-8 (4-0 GNAC).
BENNINGTON, Vt. The Lesley University softball team kicked off New England Collegiate Conference play against Southern Vermont College on Saturday afternoon and swept both games against the Mountaineers. With the victories, the Lynx evened their 2009 record at 5-5 (2-0 NECC) while Southern Vermont dropped to 0-4 (0-2 NECC) on the season.

The Lesley University softball team came back from the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Florida with a 3-5 record, the best finish among all New England Collegiate Conference schools that went to spring training. Leading the Lynx for the week was junior Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.) who earned multiple weekly awards for her efforts.
KISSIMMEE, Fla. The Lesley University split games with Waynesburg University and Chatham University in the final day of their 2009 trip to Kissimmee, Florida for the Rebel Spring Games. Lesley finished the trip with a 3-5 record.

The Lesley University softball team will begin their 2009 season next week down in Kissimmee, Florida as the team looks to repeat the success they experienced just one year ago. The Lynx finished the 2008 season with a 30-12 (17-3 North Atlantic Conference) mark and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history by winning their conference championship.

The team became conference champions to qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the first time and several players earned conference and regional accolades for their tremendous play. But, lost in shuffle of all these achievements was a coaching milestone from Head Coach Jen Benway who earned her 100th career victory in the North Atlantic Conference Championship game.
