CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the Fall Ball schedule for all teams today and the Lynx, who went 27-14 (15-1 NECC) and won the New England Collegiate Conference Championship in 2009, have drawn some stiff competition. Lesley plays three different schools in a one-day tournament on Sunday, September 27, 2009 starting at 9:00 am.
Lesley takes on Anna Maria College in their first game of the day starting at 9:00 am. Anna Maria finished the 2009 season with a 12-26 (10-14 TCCC) and just one spot out of their conference playoffs. Despite missing out on postseason play, the Amcats set records in most runs scored (119) and most stolen bases (30) since their 2003 season. They had no graduating seniors last year and only one junior so Anna Maria will have an opportunity to grow and remain competitive over the new few seasons.
In game two of the day starting at 11:00 am, the Lynx take on SUNY New Paltz who went 19-19 (9-11 SUNYAC) in the spring of 2009. The Hawks finished in seventh place in the SUNYAC but have a lot to look forward to this season. New Paltz returns all-conference selection Melyssa Cilmi who was versatile in the field, playing three different positions for the Hawks as well as their team-leader in runs batted in, Rose Dovi. Sophomore Devon Kelly will return to the mound after posting an eight-win season in 2009.
Lesley's final game of the day will be against GNAC opponent St. Joseph's College (ME) at 3:00 pm who came one game from winning the conference championship, only to fall to Emerson College 2-1. With their 29-14 (18-6 GNAC) record, the Lady Monks earned a bid into the ECAC Tournament where they lost in the first round to Plymouth State College by a score of 2-1. St. Joe's bring back pitcher Kiera Walsh who went 11-5 and Emiliy Leverone who batted 0.547 with eight homeruns and 50 runs batted in last season.
