Lesley softball athletes honored by NFCA

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Following a 2009 spring season in which the Lesley University softball reached the first round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships, two student-athletes on that team have been honored for their academic achievements in the classroom.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has proudly recognized graduate Lani Cabral-Pini (WILMINGTON, Mass./Wilmington) and current senior Georgia Saltzman (LYNN, Mass./Lynn English) as sustaining a 3.5 GPA or higher for the 2008-2009 academic year.

For Cabral-Pini, it was the second year in-a-row that she had earned this honor from the NFCA.

Along with being dedicated in the classroom, both Cabral-Pini and Saltzman had stellar seasons on the field for the Lynx.

Cabral-Pini finished the 2009 season with 0.395 batting average with a team-high 48 runs and 29 stolen bases.  Saltzman led the team with 237 putouts and was second on the team with a 0.985 fielding percentage.

Lesley completed their fall ball season and now anxiously awaits the 2010 spring season and their annual spring training trip to Florida.
