Lynx Tabbed to Finish Second in NECC Softball Poll

CAMBRIDGE, MA. -- The Lesley Lynx Softball team has come in second place in the 2022 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Coaches' Poll. The Lynx earned a total of seven points and received the one first place vote that did not go to first place finisher and last season's champion Eastern Nazarene College.

After falling to ENC in last year's championship, the Lynx were named the NECC Runners-Up and hope to improve on that and earn a title this season. Led by a strong core of returning players, Lesley looks primed for another competitive spring. 2021 NECC Player of the Year  and NFCA All-Region Second Teamer Jordan Day returns for her final season, with school records in her sights at the plate and on the mound. Ilana Zack and Antonia Kieran are back as well after breakout junior campaigns. Zack impressed behind the plate and earned Lesley's Athlete of the Year award, while Kieran drove in twenty runs an had a spotless fielding record. Sam and Lindsey Jensen also return to hold down the outfield, while Mahlia Medina is back at shortstop.

The Lynx will be led by a new head coach this season, as Brandeis alum Kelsey Smith takes over the reigns. Smith is looking forward to continuing the tradition of success that the program has built and has plenty of talent at her disposal to remain a threat in the conference. The softball season begins on March 19th with a doubleheader at Rivier College.

ENC is back on top of the poll, as last season's champions, while New England College and Mitchell College slide in behind the Lynx in the third and fourth spots.
