Colby-Sawyer defeats Lesley 74-51
NEW LONDON, N.H. - In the season opener for the Lesley University women's basketball team, the Colby-Sawyer Chargers defeated the Lynx 74-51 behind 26 points and 13 rebounds from junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.).
The Lynx were led by senior Lani Cabral-Pini (Wilmington, Mass.) who scored a team-high 11 points on two three-pointers from the field and 5-of-6 free throws from the line. Kaitlyn Wechsler complemented Cabral-Pini's effort with a 10 point performance in just 24 minutes on the court.
Brianne Caira (Pelham, N.H.) led the team with 13 rebounds.
Duffy did much of her damage in the first half, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 boards. With her offense, the Chargers held a 17 point advantage going into halftime and held the Lynx to just 19 first half points.
Lesley managed to hang with Colby-Sawyer in the second half, but they were not able to chip into the large lead.
The Lynx turned the ball over 32 times resulting in 35 points for their opponent. The Chargers dominated the paint, outscoring the Lynx 24-10. Lesley was able to edge more production out of their bench players as they had 23 points.
Lesley will next face off against Anna Maria College on Saturday, November 22 at 1:00 pm.
