BOSTON, Mass. – Hailee Lowe (HAMILTON,
Mass./Hamilton-Wenham) scored 27 points and Jodi Fralick
(WOBURN, Mass./Woburn) dished out eight assists from the point, but
the Lesley University women’s basketball team lost to
Emmanuel College 72-58 to fall to 0-2 on the season. The Saints won
their home opener and have won all three meetings with the Lynx
over the past three seasons.
Emmanuel stormed out to an early first half lead thanks in part to
14 Lesley turnovers in the opening period. Saints guard
Iman Davis (TOMS RIVER, N.J./St. George’s
School) had a near double-double with eight points and
nine rebounds to help earn her team a 36-27 going into
halftime.
In the second half, Emmanuel’s lead would stretch to as far
as 22 points midway through the period but a determined Lynx squad
trimmed the lead down to 12 points with just over four minutes
remaining in the game following a fast-break layup by
Georgia Saltzman (LYNN, Mass./Lynn English)
assisted by Fralick.
That would be as close as the visitors would get as Emmanuel held
on to win the game.
For the Saints, Breanna Ockimey (PHILADELPHIA, Pa./Academy
of Notre Dame) had a team-high 15 points off the bench and
Davis finished with a double-double of 13 points and 17
rebounds.
Lowe led the way for the Lynx with 27 points on 8-of-15 from the
floor and a stellar 11-of-12 from the free throw line. She added
nine rebounds for the near double-double. Brianne Caira
(PELHAM, N.H./Pelham) chipped in with 12 points and
Kaitlyn Wechsler (MERRICK, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy
Academy) added nine points.
The Lynx ran into trouble late in the game as three of their
players fouled out including Caira, Saltzman, and Wechsler.
Lesley travels to Rivier College on December 3rd for a 7:00 pm game
while Emmanuel hosts the EC Saints Invitational Tournament this
weekend.
