SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Lesley University traveled to Western Massachusetts for a challenging match against NEWMAC opponent Mount Holyoke College on Tuesday evening but walked away with their first loss of the 2008 season.  The Lynx played hard and were able to score two goals, but lost the match 4-2.

The Lynx got on the scoreboard first at 6:10 when first year player Emma Fogg (Wellesley, Mass.) connected on a crossed pass from Jodi Fralick (Woburn, Mass.).  Fogg was able to finish off the close range shot to put the Lynx up 1-0.

It was not until the 40th minute that the next goal would be scored.  Lyons forward Lauren Orr (Fullerton, Calif.) tied up the match as she beat a Lesley defender and scored past keeper Hailee Lowe (Hamilton, Mass.).  Jesse Sugrue (Belchertown, Mass.) would assist on the play.

Both teams went into halftime with the score knotted at 1-1.

When play resumed, Mount Holyoke would score two more goals to gain a 3-1 advantage.  At 54:16, Sugrue would against assist on a goal but this time she found teammate Perry Markell (Portsmouth, R.I.) for her first goal of the season.  Just six minutes later, Orr would score her second goal of the game with an assist from Markell.

Lesley would cut into the lead in the 75th minute as Fralick received a pass from Alyson Durben (Stow, Mass.) off a free kick and beat her defender and the keeper for her 17th goal of the season.

The Lyons would put the match away at 81:44 when Yuko Takahashi (Tochigi, Japan) scored off a rebound where the previous shot had hit the crossbar.

With their first loss of 2008, the Lynx dropped to 8-1-1 (3-0-0 NECC) while the Lyons improved to 3-6-0 (0-1-0 NEWMAC).

Lesley will be back in action this Saturday against NECC foe Southern Vermont College starting at 10:30 am.
