Durben breaks LU assist mark, Lynx top So. VT

CAMBRIDGE, MA – Lesley University remained a flawless 5-0-1 in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action, knocking off Southern Vermont 7-0 Saturday night.  

Coming off of a game-winning goal in double overtime at Becker Wednesday night, Emma Fogg carried her momentum into Saturday night's contest against the Mountaineers.  Lesley sophomore midfielder Kelsey Fitzgerald (Upton, MA/Nipmuc Regional) sent a leading pass to senior Emma Fogg (Wellesley, MA/Wellesley) at 4:18 for Fogg's third of the season, setting the tone for a memorable night for Fogg and her senior classmates.

Lesley (9-4-2, 5-0-1) scored again at 28:34 minutes into the first half when Casey Decareau (Haverhill,MA/Georgetown) headed the ball into the net on a corner kick from senior Alyson Durben (Stow, MA/Nashoba Regional). This was Durben's sixth assist of the season, which places her as Lesley University's new all-time leader in assists with 25, breaking the record of former teammate and 2010 graduate Jodi Fralick.


Sarah Bassett (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) took a pass at 31:03 from Kelsey Fitzgerald to notch the Lynx at 3-0.

With 19 seconds remaining, Chelsea Quackenbush (East Hampton, CT/East Hampton) scored on a pass from Courtney Hopkins (Watertown, MA/Watertown) to give the Lynx a four-point lead going into the half. Lesley outshot the Mountaineers in the first half 25-1, while Southern Vermont's goalkeeper Catrina Cecchini  (Montville, CT/Montville HS) had ten saves.

Two minutes and forty-five seconds into the second half, Dory LeCount (Waltham, MA/Waltham) scored on a pass from sophomore Kate Ryder (Glastonbury, CT/Mercy).  At 63:15, Jackee Sanchez scored her fifth season goal when Bridget Rundquist (knocked it to her for the assist. Twenty three minutes past in the second half when Veronica Halen took a shot on goal but it was saved by Cecchini. On the rebound Halen shot again but the ball was stopped this time by the Mountaineer's senior defender Joellen Demers  (Middlesex, Vt./U-32 HS).

With ten minutes remaining in the match, Ryder scored on a header in front of the left post from Jenna Fralick (Woburn, MA/Woburn) for the Lynx to take a 7-0 lead.

Lesley University's freshman goalkeeper Victoria Ellis (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach) recorded her first career shutout stopping both shots the Mountaineers put at her. The Lynx now post a 9-4-2 record with a 5-0-1 NECC record while Southern Vermont drops to 0-10-0 with a 0-5-0 NECC record.
