Women's Soccer Introduces Seven Member Recruiting Class For Fall 2017

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Lesley University women's soccer coach Paul Vasconcelos releases his seven-member recruiting class that includes five freshmen and two transfers that will joing the Lynx this coming fall. 

The Lynx announced the additions of defender Kendall Eagan, along with midfielders, Samantha Ring, Maddy Deitrick and Julia Cohn. Cynthia Ramos and Ruby Hill come in as forwards. Jill Narby rounds out the group as the lone goalkeeper.

"Like every year, we needed to address voids in our roster left by the graduating class," said Vasconcelos, who is entering his eleventh year at the helm. "Overall, we are very pleased with the way our 2017 recruiting class turned out, we feel we stayed within the tradition of bringing in elite student-athletes. This class comes from all over the country, have unique personalities and contrasting skills sets."

Madelinne Deitrick
#16
Height: 5-4
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Bertram, TX
High School: Burnet

Deitrick joins the Lynx from Bertram, TX where she was a two-time all-conference selection and two year captain at Burnet High. She played her club ball at ECNL club Lonestars SC under Sophia Mundy.

Coach Vasconcelos says "Maddy was one of our highest rated recruits, we feel she has all the characteristics to play in the middle of the field in the college game. She is a ball winner and plays with a high work rate. We are very excited to get a player of her athleticism and ability."

 

 

Ruby Hill

Height: 5-4
Position: Winger
Hometown: Manhattan Beach, Calif.
High School: Mira Costa

Ruby Hill joins the Lynx from Manhattan Beach, Calif. where she played at Mira Costa High School. She played her club ball at ECNL club Strikers FC under Abner Rogers. 

Coach Vasconcelos says"Ruby is a quick, athletic player that can give opposing defenses problems. She trained and played at a high level and we expect her to come in and play on the wings"

 

 

Jill Narby

Height: 5-6"
Position: Goalkeeper
Hometown: Huntington, N.Y.
High School: Portledge

The Long Island native comes to Cambridge after four years at Portledge high school, where she was the starting keeper and four-time All-Conference selection. She was also a goalkeeper in New York ODP system and played her club ball at Stony Brook Spirit.

"Jill was a great pickup to our already talented goalkeeper group. She is a tough goalkeeper, has decent size and a great work ethic, she gives us depth at the position we have never had."

 

Julia Cohn

Height: 5-3"
Position: Midfielder
Hometown: Farmington, Conn.
High School: Farmington High

Cohn joins the Lynx after a 4yr varsity career at Farmington High where she was tow-time all-conference, 1st team All-State and selected to the All-Harford Courant team. She played her club ball for FSA ECNL team.

Coach Vasconcelos says"Julia was a young lady we wanted early on in the process, she is technically quick and possesses a great soccer IQ. We think she could develop into a very good collegiate midfielder."

 

 

Cynthia Ramos

Position: Forward
Hometown: San Antonio, Texas
High School: Holmes High School

Cynthia Ramos comes to the east coast from San Antonio, Texas where she played was captain and a three-time All–Area First team selection at Holmes High School. Ramos played her club ball at Dragons SC under coach Mike Lozano.

Coach Vasconcelos says "Cynthia is an athletic forward that we think she will fit in well with our current group of players. She is a great teammate that can finish and will help fill some holes in our forward/winger position."

High School: South Lake Tahoe

Eagan comes to Lesley from Lake Tahoe Community College where she was a First-Team All-Golden Valley Conference in 2016 as a right back; Second-Team All-Golden Valley Conference as a freshman. Prior to that she played and graduated from South Lake Tahoe high school.

Coach Vasconcelos says "Kendall is an experienced athletic outside player, she is great on the ball and can get up in the attack. We expect her to come right in and play right away for us on the wings."

 

Samantha Ring

Position: Midfielder/ Wing
Hometown: Thousand Oaks, Calif.
High School: Westlake High
Previous School: Moorpark College

Ring comes to Cambridge after two seasons at Moorpark College under Miguel Ruiz, she was named to the All-WSC North second team.

Coach Vasconcelos says "Sam is a smart player who keeps the game simple and is an accurate passer. We feel she fits in very well with our system here and brings in some experience."

 

Lesley went 15-5-2 in 2016. The Lynx report for preseason on August 18th and kick off the regular season on September 1st at Eastern Nazarene College.
