Paul Vasconcelos enters his fourth year as head coach for the women's soccer team at Lesley University. In his first year, the women's program made a remarkable turn around, improving to 14-4-1 in the 2007 season and getting into the record books as the NCAA All-Time Most Improved Division III program in the country. As a result Vasconcelos was selected as the 2007 North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year.
Over the next two seasons, Vasconcelos led the Lynx to a
combined 31-8-3 record. In both the 2008 and 2009 seasons
Lesley reached the New England Collegiate Conference Championship
match, winning in 2009 over Mitchell College. Vasconcelos
earned Coach of the Year honors in both 2008 and 2009 and coached a
total of 11 All-Conference players, including one Player of the
Year and two Rookies of the Year.
In 2002 he was appointed the Assistant Coach at Milton Academy
where he stayed on for just one season, before leaving to become
the Assistant Soccer Coach at Emerson College. At Emerson he
helped lead the Lions to their best record in the programs history
in just his first year. He stayed at Emerson for three
seasons leading the Lions to two straight GNAC Conference
semifinals.
In 2004 he was hired as a full time staff coach at South Coast
Scorpions a premier girls club based out of Braintree. In his
time there he trained some of the top female players in the
state. A member of the US Soccer Coaches Organization and the
National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Vasconcelos holds
the USSF National C License, KNVB Dutch Advanced License and NSCAA
Director of Coaching Diploma along with a few international
licenses. He has recently been hired as the Massachusetts ODP
State U14 assistant girls coach. Currently he is the Director
of Coaching at Eastern Mass FC, a premier youth club based out of
Canton, Massachusetts. Coach Vasconcelos is also a member of the
NCAA Division III New England Regional Advisory Committee and was
recently made the NECC Representative for the NSCAA Ranking
Committee.
Coach Vasconcelos commented on his opportunity with the women's
program, "My staff and I are dedicated to recruiting top flight
student-athletes to come in and make an immediate impact to our
already successful program. We look to be one of the top
programs in the NECC for years to come."
