CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Lesley Women's tennis team won its home opener against Albertus Magnus, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Beren Tennis Center on the campus of Harvard University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Lesley began the match with a 2-1 lead after doubles play. Victory's at #2 doubles, Morgan Anderson (Bedford, Mass.) and Mary Pulling (Whitman, Mass.) (8-3), and #3 doubles Summer Lamphrey (Webster, Mass.) and Joselyn Martinez (Somerville, Mass.) (8-0), gave Lesley the edge heading into singles play.
- In singles play, Maddie Abbott (Portland, Manie) won her match at the #1 singles (6-2, 6-4) to lead the Lynx.
- Lesley would close out the match with wins at singles #4, #5, and #6. The highlight of the three matches being Martinez at #5 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep. While Lamphrey was successful at #4 singles (6-1, 6-3) and clinced the match for the Lynx, and Annie Dai (Milton, Mass.) was victorious as well at #6 singles (6-0, 6-2).
Lynx will hit the road for its next match against Simmons University on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 4:30 p.m.
