Lynx Drop Two to Dean and Framingham St. in Tri-Match

MEDFORD, MA. – The Lesley Women's volleyball team opened their home schedule with two three-set losses to Dean College and Framingham State in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon. The Lynx fall to 0-6 overall, while the Bulldogs move up to 1-5 and the Rams settle at 6-3 at day's end.

  • The Lynx played their best match of the season against Dean, though they still ended up falling in three sets. Dean picked up a quick win in set one, despite Lesley taking a 4-1 lead early. The Bulldogs scored twelve of the next fourteen points to put it out of reach.
  • Lesley came back strong in set two, picking up fourteen points, but Jordan Cornouyer-Herivaux led a seven point run to open the set that the Lynx couldn't overcome. Nicole Pietrocola served a five point run near the end of the set to make it closer, but Dean was too far ahead.
  • The Lynx put up a season high 16 points in set three, but Dean was again too tough to overtake for their third set win. The Lynx were ahead early thanks to strong serving by Sydney Hart, but a late run served by Hope Laiter held the Lynx at bay for the third time.
  • Hart had a collegiate career high eight kills to lead the Lynx, while Tallin Goldberg earned nine assists. Cornouyer-Herivaux and Sari Albury each had six kills for Dean, with Lena Muraski leading in assists with ten.

  • Framingham State was the team to beat on the day, taking down Dean in the second match before moving on to earn a win over Lesley in three sets.
  • Morgan Failla made it look easy to open the first set by serving a thirteen point run to shut Lesley down for the rest of the set. They could not overcome the 13-0 lead as Anna Szymanski put together an eight point run to close it out. Valerie Sullivan had four kills in the run, while Hailey Sanders had three.
  • The Rams were out early again with a 7-0 run, while Emily Flaherty and Sanders combined for two separate runs that scored their thirteen final points, with the Lynx only picking up one point over the final half of the set.
  • The third set started off with another massive Rams run, with Molly Rezendes serving to a 12-0 lead this time. The Lynx could only muster five points in the third set as Framingham picked up their second win of the day.
  • Pietrocola led the Lynx with four kills, while Hart had three. Sullivan had eight total kills in the match, while Sanders had six and Failla had fourteen assists.
