Bennington, VT-- The Lesley Men and Women's Cross Country teams opened their season at the Southern Vermont Invitational on Saturday morning. The women's side had a strong showing by just missing a third place finish by under a minute. Anne Cooper led the Lynx with a 10th place finish overall.
INSIDE THE MEET:
- Senior Anne Cooper kicked off her senior campaign finishing 10th out of 55 total runners in the 5k. Cooper finished with a time of 24.23.
- Nicole Footer and Kayla Ranere were the next best runners and placed in the top 25 overall. Footer placed 20th at 26.05, while Ranere was close behind at 22nd finishing in 26.37.
- Freshman Gillian Lewis (30.12), Lauren Desrocher (33.04), and Kathryn Pope (33.13) rounded out the Lynx runners to secure the fourth place finish.
- Three runners raced for the men with Mike Flemming earning the Lynx best at 21.51, good for a 31st finish out of 64 runners. Max Krikorian (22.58), and Ethan Merians (28.50) placed 45th and 61st, respectively.
"This was a great showing for both the men's and women's side, despite the hilly course," said head coach Brendan Peltier. "Both teams battled hard, and this was a great bench mark to move forward into the rest of the season. Congratulations to Anne for placing in the top 10!"
The Lynx next travel to the Mitchell College Invitational on Saturday September 15th.
