CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After getting their three-match win streak snapped last night at Bridgewater State, the Lynx returned to their winning ways tonight with a 7-0 sweep over Wheelock College in New England Collegiate Conference action. With the win, Lesley moves to 5-4 on the year and 4-2 in NECC play while the Wildcats fall to 0-6 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Senior Nick Mattox (Pasadena, Md.) and junior Mike Kaufman (Boca Raton, Fla.) teamed up for an 8-2 win in first doubles while Thomas Tedesco (Bristol, Conn.) and senior Alex Zhitnik (West Hartford, Conn.) blanked the Wildcats in the second slot, 8-0.
In singles, Zhitnik, Kaufman, and sophomore Roman Pham (Lynnfield, Mass.) all took their matches 6-0, 6-0. Mattox won in the first slot, 6-0, 6-1 while Tedesco completed the sweep in No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The Lynx return to the court Wednesday when they travel to Becker College for some more NECC action, while Wheelock will travel to Newbury College for a conference match on Thursday.
