Slow First Half Leaves Lynx Behind Against Hornets

MEDFORD, MA. -- The Lesley Women's Basketball team couldn't keep up with the Northern Vermont-Lyndon Hornets on Monday night, falling 84-40. The Lynx drop to 2-13 overall, while the Hornets advance to 8-9.

  • The first quarter sunk the Lynx thanks to a one-for-ten shooting performance. They did make five of six free throws, but they were only able to total seven points while NVU rushed out ahead with 24. The Hornets started on a 22-2 run and never looked back.
  • The Lynx struggled in the second quarter as well, adding only eight more points. They fared better after halftime, scoring the same amount of points in the third quarter as they did the entire first half.
  • Saleena Porter had a great night for the Hornets, leading the team in points and rebounds with 17 and 8. Sage Smith added seven rebounds, while Lea Crompton had 15 points, five rebounds, six assists, and three steals.
  • Despite the teamwide shooting struggles, Kizziah Ruff still scored 16 for Lesley with Sydnie Drezek adding four off the bench. Alexandra Kerley had another double digit rebound game with eleven boards.

The Lynx take a few days off before traveling to Eastern Nazarene for a conference matchup on Thursday February 10th at 4 PM.
